Controls Engineer

Requirements

We are searching for a candidate with:

  • Engineering training, qualifications, or equivalent experience
  • Experience programming automation systems
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • An understanding of complex technical solutions
  • Excellent PLC programming skills
  • Ability to manage and implement industrial projects from design through commissioning using current technology
  • Basic knowledge of machine vision systems and technology
  • Understanding of common automation platforms
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Customer service experience is highly valued

Duties and Responsibilities

A typical day may include:

  • Designing, developing, and implementing PLC/HMI based control and automation systems for customers
  • Developing well-documented and flexible PLC code using a standard programming language
  • Participating in the estimation and proposal phase of major projects by conducting research and analysis based on customer proposals, specifications, or other information
  • Assisting in pre-project planning
  • Designing automation systems and functional designs based on partner or customer provided control descriptions, joint-design sessions with partners or customers, or analysis of existing operations
  • Designing and developing HMIs that are professional and clean, with a simple and common navigation structure
  • Working with other team members, partners, and customers to oversee and share designs and development responsibilities to deliver successful projects
  • Developing solutions to support testing and commissioning activities
  • Providing on-site commissioning support and customer training, including the supervision of other team members and partners
  • Other adjacent duties, as required
